January 16 —Judge Bentley took the bench early Tuesday morning and heard cases followed by the newly seated Judge Carter who listened to attorneys representing several cases. Shortly afterwards, Judge Newell took the bench to explain the mornings proceedures regarding traffic court. The courtroom bustled with wall to wall, in the hall people. Most cases heard by Judge Newell involved traffic violations. With a full docket and citizens anxious to have their case resolved, the newly elected Judge Newell directed some to traffic court, set trial dates for others and accepted pleas of guilt. Overall, the first morning on the bench for both new judges was a busy one! |
